As the African woman’s role and importance has traditionally been relegated to the household, the emergence of women leaders on the political and business scene faces some hurdles even in the most educated African countries. As we look to Africa’s ascent in the 21st century, some questions still remain about the impact of the African woman, both locally and internationally. Can women truly succeed in areas of leadership in Africa? How do women approach leadership and what do they do differently? How can Africans harness the potential for a future generation of female African leaders to lead the continent? This panel will be an avenue to debate on topics that relate to women leaders in various fields and their role in Africa’s increasing economic importance in the world.
